Tater tot casserole is a yummy comfort food when you are in the mood for meat and potatoes.  This simple recipe is one that the kids will enjoy helping you assemble. 



  • 1 large bag frozen tater tots
  • 2 cans cream of mushroom soup
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 pound ground beef (or turkey)
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheese


  • Preheat oven to 375°F.
  • Brown the hamburger, salt, pepper and onions until done through. Onions should be tender. Drain oil from the pan.
  • Combine milk and soup- mixing to get out any lumps.
  • In a casserole dish (9×9), spray with cooking spray. Arrange 1/2 of the bag of tots in a layer in the bottom of the pan. Pour meat and onions over the tots. Pour milk soup mixture over the top. Top with another layer of tots. Sprinkle cheese over the top.
  • Bake for approximately 45 minutes or until tots are cooked through. Allow to cool for 5-10 minutes before serving
